WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic will assist the department Lead Person and Assistant Manager by performing the required maintenance and repairs of Agricultural equipment. This person will be responsible for performing maintenance work such as inspecting, troubleshooting, and performing routine repair tasks on Carrot Harvesters and other Heavy equipment. This person will be expected to support and follow Company safety policies as well as other policies. This person is required to have at least 2 years of experience in the field of agricultural equipment repair and maintenance. Ensure assignments are performed with specified instructions, expected time limits and required quality in a shop and field environment. This person will ensure that all equipment is safely operating at optimum condition.
- Assist the area Lead Person in maintaining company Ag. and related equipment as required.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot needed repairs on heavy equipment.
- Works with high integrity and complies with corporate guidelines on business ethics.
- Follow company and department rules and policies.
- Work directly and cooperate with the Department Supervisors and Managers to accomplish project goals as needed.
- Work in a productive manner and strive to maintain a spirit of teamwork and cooperation.
- Complete assigned repairs in timely manner.
- Maintain a variety of equipment and tools to ensure their safe operation.
- Maintain shop and job site safe at all times.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Report defective tools, equipment immediately to Lead / Management.
- Pickup and delivery of equipment and parts to and from outside vendors.
- Operates stationary and moving overhead cranes, forklifts, and any equipment needed to perform a job within safety guidelines.
- Perform routine maintenance on machinery and equipment.
- Test and evaluate operation of Ag. and related equipment.
- Examine parts for defects.
- Ability to travel out of town with overnight stays.
- Ability to operate a pilot vehicle in/out of town.
- Load Carrot Harvesters for transportation purposes.
- May require work to be done in field locations.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED or one to two years related experience or a combination of both education and experience.
- Valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Punctual, excellent attendance record, and cooperate with others.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to apply common sense, understand and carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
- Safety conscious, an eye for detail, and ability to plan, organize, and perform multiple tasks.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics.
- Knowledge for troubleshooting and repairing 12V and 24V electrical systems.
- Basic mathematical skills.
- Knowledge of Arc / Mig welding and cutting methods.
- Previous experience in troubleshooting hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Ability to work in group settings.
- Diesel engine maintenance and repair experience is a plus.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 year’s hydraulic experience, troubleshooting repairing and performing preventative maintenance on Ag. equipment.
- Minimum 2 years previous experience preferred.
- Technical School training in related field.
- Previous experience in “Total Process Reliability” (TPR) maintenance is a plus.
